Get-up and Go: Adynamic Bone Disease in Chronic Kidney Disease Patient

چکیده
We reported a case of adynamic bone disease (ABD) in an older woman with chronic kidney disease, stage-4 (CKD-4), estimate 29ml/min glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Similarly, the patient presented pain and osteoporosis as well intact parathyroid hormone (PTH) was suppressed (<6ng/dl) secondary to use vitamin D analogs for hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) CKD. Furthermore, hypercalcemia (11.1 mg/dl), her dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA

Management of adynamic bone disease in chronic kidney disease: A brief review
The Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) work group released recommendations in 2006 to define the bone-related pathology associated with chronic kidney disease as renal osteodystrophy. In 2009, KDIGO released revised clinical practice guidelines which redefined systemic disorders of bone and mineral metabolism due to chronic kidney disease as chronic kidney disease-mineral and bon...
متن کاملAdynamic bone disease—bone and beyond
Disturbances of bone and mineral metabolism are a hallmark of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Renal osteodystrophy (ROD) is the traditional term for bone lesions in conjunction with CKD and is now considered a part of the ‘chronic kidney disease—mineral and bone disorder’ (CKD-MBD) [1]. ROD comprises various subtypes with substantial differences in aetiology and fundamental differences in treatme...

Background and Objective: Endocrine disorders are common in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The aim of the present study is reviewing available literature to give a deep understanding of complexities of endocrine disorders in chronic kidney disease. Methods: A narrative reviewing method based on the available literature was approached. Findings: Generally, when renal function de...
متن کاملEffects of Dietary Phosphate on Adynamic Bone Disease in Rats with Chronic Kidney Disease – Role of Sclerostin?
High phosphate intake is known to aggravate renal osteodystrophy along various pathogenetic pathways. Recent studies have raised the possibility that dysregulation of the osteocyte Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is also involved in chronic kidney disease (CKD)-related bone disease. We investigated the role of dietary phosphate and its possible interaction with this pathway in an experimental m...
